Sharing Information/Free and Reduced Forms
A 2021-2022 Household Application for free and reduced price school meals was sent home with each student. We are encouraging families to complete the application even though meals will be free again this year. By doing so, it will help with qualifying for school fee waivers and reduced fees for district programs as well as help with P/EBT benefits.

Unfortunately, families are not able to complete the form online this year. Please complete the form (one per family) and either return it to the school office or mail or fax to Sodexo, attn: Cathy Ostrowski (11100 W Center St. Wauwatosa, 53222/414-773-2780) for manual processing.

Sharing Information and Free and Reduced forms are also available on the district website: https://www.wauwatosa.k12.wi.us/Page/7709

Welcome Back!

Hello 2021/2022 Roosevelt Families! After a couple of challenging years due to construction, and then a global pandemic, we are looking forward to having a more “normal” school year! For obvious reasons, PTA events will continue to look different this year, and in some cases, need to be cancelled. But we hope that we will be able to do more and increase participation over last year. To make it possible for us to continue holding events and to support the students and teachers of Roosevelt, we encourage families to become members of the PTA and participate in events. In all of our years at Roosevelt, one thing definitely holds true. Our Roosevelt community is an amazing and special place. It is a community that comes together, works together, and supports each other. Please feel free to reach out to us at rooseveltpta@gmail.com.

We are looking forward to another great year at Roosevelt,
Your Roosevelt PTA Board
Heidi Bach – President
Allie Howard- Vice President
Ashley Plante – Treasurer
Jennifer Stoebe – Secretary

Roosevelt Mask Drive
Hello wonderful Roosevelt parents! Thank you for all of your support last year in providing the school with masks. They were so helpful! As students return to 5 day instruction, we want to make sure that ALL students have access to masks. If you happen to have a few spare masks hanging around or if you would be able to pick up some when you are out and about shopping, I will gratefully collect them for the school. Any masks would be appreciated, but smaller sizes and gender neutral colors/patterns are needed most. I can also accept Venmo donations once again @Elizabeth-R-Jablonski. All donations will be used to purchase masks for the school. Thank you again in advance for your generosity.

Letter from the Board
We want to say a huge and grateful thank you from all of us on the PTA Board.  It has been a very unique past couple years, but the one constant during those years is the willingness of the entire Roosevelt community to come together and make successful and meaningful events.  Thank you to all the teachers and staff, PTA event chairs, PTA membership, Roosevelt families, and the amazing students.  We have asked a lot of so many people, so if you have volunteered even the smallest amount of time and effort, it is very appreciated.

It is our pleasure to introduce the 2021-2022 PTA Board: Heidi Bach – President, Allison Dunleavy – Vice President, Ashley Plante – Treasurer, and Jennifer Stoebe – Secretary.  We know that they will do a wonderful job and will have amazing support and help from our Roosevelt community.  We look forward to your future success.

Thank you again,
Your PTA

Grounds and Playground Updates
Support the new Roosevelt playgrounds and green spaces at the upcoming School Board meeting! The School Board is expected to consider a recommendation at their meeting on Monday, June 14 at 7:00pm, for extensive exterior work at Roosevelt including new playgrounds, green spaces, and exterior work around the school.  We know that a number of Roosevelt families have worked very hard and for a long time to see this come to fruition. This would be a significant investment. Once complete, this investment will make the outdoor spaces more usable, accessible, and safe for kids and the community. While Roosevelt saw some great investments as a result of the referendum, this final “renovation” may be the most visually significant and literally have a year round positive impact on those in the neighborhood and kids that attend the school for the next 10+ years.

Please plan to attend (virtually or in person) and bring other Roosevelt families to come to show your support and speak on behalf of the exterior work being proposed around Roosevelt.

Thank you for the support on Monday,
Your PTA

PTA Board Positions Open for 2021-2022
YOUR PTA NEEDS YOU!!!
A successful school year filled with Roosevelt’s events requires a healthy and active PTA membership and Board. Just like past PTA Boards, we have encountered challenges to fill Board positions as we approach the end of our terms. It is vitally important to fill the Board for next school year as life slowly gets back to normal, so we can bring back school events that were canceled over the past two years due to construction and Covid-19. Please contact us ASAP if you have any interest in becoming a PTA Board member so we have time to introduce you to the responsibilities of your position and prepare for the upcoming vote at the next meeting. Thank you, to those who have already reached out, for your interest and patience. Serving on the Board is a fulfilling experience and worth your time and effort!

Please reach out to us by May 5th if you have any interest in becoming a PTA Board member so we have time to introduce you to the responsibilities of your position and prepare for the upcoming vote at the next meeting. Thank you, to those who have already reached out, for your interest and patience. The majority of positions are still open and need to be filled. Serving on the Board is a fulfilling experience and worth your time and effort!

Cold Weather Clothing Need
Roosevelt is in need of new/used snow pants, winter/waterproof gloves, and boots in all sizes. As you go through your winter gear and encounter clearance sales as the season continues and weather eventually warms, please consider sending your outgrown and unneeded items to Roosevelt to be distributed to students in need. Thank you!

Roosevelt Mask Drive
Hello wonderful Roosevelt parents! Thank you for all of your support this year in providing the school with masks. They have been so helpful! As students have returned to 5 day instruction, the mask supply has once again dwindled.

Free Lunch and Breakfast
Sodexo will provide grab and go lunch and breakfast for all Virtual Learners attending Tosa Connected and Wauwatosa Virtual Academy. Hybrid families not wishing to have their students take-home meals from school may complete this form as well.

PTA Board Positions Open for 2021-2022
Hello Roosevelt,
It seems like every letter that we send talks about how the last couple years have been unique at best. Starting the 2019-2020 school year with construction and the continued challenge of Covid-19 over this and last year, a lot of things have been cancelled or had to change accordingly. The one thing that has not changed and can never be cancelled is the amazing community that makes up our Roosevelt family. It can not be stressed enough how with every ask, the students, families, and staff rise to the challenge and surpass any goal.

In keeping with this fashion, we have another ask of five persons who can spare a couple hours each month to help continue our beloved Roosevelt events. Our run as the current PTA Board is coming to a close with the end of this school year. It has been fun, rewarding, and definitely an interesting couple years, but we feel proud that we can leave knowing we have hopefully made it better for the new PTA Board and the continuation of past successes to future successes.

We will be able to help guide you through the day-to-day activities and requirements as a Board member. We have done our best, over the past couple years, to streamline everything to decrease the time involvement, and just make things a bit simpler. We will also be just a phone call, text, or email away to lend a helping hand, as the past Board did for us.

Being a member of the PTA Board is a great way to see just how special the Roosevelt family truly is. If you have any interest or questions, please reach out to us. If you are already involved and want to give a little more time, please reach out. If you want to find a way to get involved and evenings are your only option, please reach out. If you have any inkling of a thought to help, please reach out. You will be happy that you did.

Your current and very appreciative PTA Board

Roosevelt Food Pantry: Give what you can & take what you need
THANK YOU to everyone checking the pantry and keeping it stocked! A quick note on what items seem to be in highest demand lately: food where you can add water and you have a meal! Think mac n cheese where the cheese packet is all ready (no need for butter or milk), pouches of soup (Bear Creek has some great options…add boiling water and you have 8 servings!), Dinty Moore/Hormel heat and eat (they have them in plastic dishes all ready to go), hearty breakfast/granola bars, cups of ramen and chili, yummy rice or potato mixes where the spices are all in there…just add water. Protein is always welcome (packs of tuna) and thanks to a lovely donor who is helping us keep shelf-stable beef sticks in there, as well. Because the temps are still all over the place we are still avoiding glass, plastic, and cans. But hope for better weather is on the horizon!
Give what you can and TAKE what you need! Suggestions are always welcome here. (sarajaneluke@gmail.com)

ADOPT-THE-PANTRY: To ensure we can keep the pantry safe and stocked, we are asking for volunteers to sign up to adopt the pantry for one week (or more). During your week, we ask that you pick a day to:

  • Check the inventory
  • Discard any perishable, damaged or expired items
  • Contact Sara Luke (sarajaneluke@gmail.com) with any items that seem low (starches, breakfast, protein, meals, etc) and we will use donated funds/food to keep it stocked
  • (If it’s in your budget that week) Replenish the pantry.

We will post a list of suggested/safe items inside the door of the pantry for those checking and donating. Thanks in advance for signing up!
