Walk to School Day: 10/2
Roosevelt is participating in Walk to School Day! It is an annual event to encourage walking and bicycling to school for several reasons:

  • Increase physical activity
  • Teach safe pedestrian and bicycling skills to children
  • Foster awareness of how walkable & bikeable our community is and where improvements can be made
  • Show concern for the environment
  • Reduce traffic congestion, pollution, and speed near schools
  • Share time with community leaders, parents, and children

Live too far away to walk, bike, or scoot to school?  Consider parking a block or two away and making the final stretch to your destination by one of these alternate modes!  A special thanks to our guest crossing guards, the Wauwatosa Health Department, and the Tosa Farmer’s market for generously providing apples!

PTA Morning Coffee: 10/2
In honor of Walk to School Day, please join us for coffee from 7:55 – 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2nd. Celebrate your walking efforts or just the beginning of another great year at Roosevelt with a hot cup of joe. If you are returning to Roosevelt or new to our Roosevelt community, we would love to meet you, introduce ourselves, and answer any questions you may have. Weather permitting, we will have two outside coffee stations on the Roosevelt grounds (pun intended).

Roosevelt Fun Run Volunteers Needed: 10/4
Woo hoo!! It’s that time of the year again! The Roosevelt Fun Run is the school’s largest (and most fun!) fundraiser! While raising money for the school, it is also an opportunity for every student to share their school spirit, work on their physical fitness, raise money, and contribute directly to the school by raising money for field trips, cultural initiatives, and many other PTA programs. Give the kids a boost and help raise funds for our school! We need your help with tracking laps for 2-4 students and other duties. Feel free to volunteer for as many class times as you want. In order to be guaranteed to be paired with your student(s), sign up by October 2nd, and please enter your student’s name in the comment section when signing up. We welcome half day and all day volunteers, too. Click here to volunteer: Roosevelt Run Run Volunteer Sign Up.
